Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Tara and I’ve been wondering all my life: what am I? In a world where “everything’s possible”, I feel like I’m supposed to know. The truth is, however, that the older I get, the more confusing and simultaneously simple it gets.
I’m an observer, and wherever I come, my presence alone leads to change. I’ve once joked that I’m a “Shadow Antenna”, always recognizing, absorbing and making visible the shadow of a place. This links to my Jungian perspective, acquired through 4 years of training in Jungian depth psychology. Before that, I became a sustainability scientist. And well, everything combined, my path lead me to become a Changemaker OR to unwrap the inner Changemaker that was always inherently there.
Identifying myself as such gives me some peace. Because before, my broad scala of interests and background always confused me. Society, or maybe just me inner voice, asked me to be something — something graspable, manageable. But, as I’ve now come to understand, being in-between everything is also a function, a role, an archetype that some people embody. And it’s an essential role, especially in our changing society!
Because not being part of something gives me, and others like me, the outsider perspective necessary for changing things. It’s also about shifting (inner) narrative: being a Changemaker shifts my identity from being someone who doesn’t belong to someone who’s essential. I like to see us Changemakers like this, because finally, making change is something I can specialize in. Something I can share and write about!
So, that’s what I’m about to do. I’m about to embrace my nature, place myself back “into” or “hovering in and out of” the system that we’re all part of and share my perspective on change. It’s what I love to do, and I’m wondering what story will emerge from it.
Stories change the world, you know… And it’s time to write mine!
